To be fair, I was old for Minecraft fandom in my late 20s, but was *deeply* in Minecraft and Minecraft Let's Player fandom then. I ran a tiny community for fanfic, and definitely felt like the protective older entity making sure the kids then had a safe place to talk about this part of fandom, but those kids were also in a different sense my peers squeeing about the same Let's Players and such.
Here at 30, 'kids these days'-ing about Fortnite feels both absolutely correct in the cosmic sense (grumbling about kids half my age, yeah, fine) and totally not (because there almost certainly is someone in roughly the position I was then, but for a bunch of Fortnite kids, who definitely is a part of the Fortnite fandom like I was for Minecraft...)
