“How Fanfiction Makes Us Poor,” by cupids_bow seems relevant to the monetization debate. I remember the essay circulating widely when it was oringially posted in 2007. I think it might make a good entry in the Flashback section, particularly for readers who want to reflect on the projections in the original. A relevant quote:

“If you remember, right back at the start of this essay, I posed a couple of questions: is the non-capitalist aspect of fanfiction actually a method of silencing the artistic voices of women? And does it take away what should be legitimate opportunities for us to earn an income from what we create?”
